Combined Heat and Power (CHP), also known as cogeneration, is an efficient, clean and reliable approach to generating power and thermal energy from one single fuel source .
By installing a CHP system, designed to utilize both energy sources and to meet the thermal and electrical base loads of facilities or
district heating networks , CHP can greatly increase the facilities' operational efficiency and decrease energy costs.
At the same time, CHP reduces the emission of greenhouse gases, which contribute to global climate change even further.

Essential High Planning Standards

Due to the significantly higher initial investment in comparison to heat "only" projects and the overall complexity of CHP implementations, the already increased
planning requirements for Bio-Energy projects need to be even further observed.
The type of CHP system and its level of interactivity with the electric utility grid dictates the complexity of the installation.
High initial costs combined with relatively low electricity rates would likely be the biggest economic barrier for the adoption of the technology.

Accordingly, the feasibility assessment of any CHP project requires detail and professionalism in order to pave the way to success.
